It encompasses an area of more than 20.000 square kilometres and borders the Adriatic Coast, Austria, Croatia, Hungary and Italy. The diverse landscapes of Slovenia attract many nature lovers who want to discover the many different regions: Highlands, rivers and plains characterise the landscape whilst the great cities offer many sights to their visitors. First settlement traces date back to 3600 to 3100 BC. Today not only tourists staying in a holiday apartment in Ljubljana are enthralled by the listed historic town as well as by the castle, the breathtaking Dragon Bridge and Saint Nicholas’s Cathedral. The streets of Ljubljana stellar lead into the surrounding area which is ideal for daytrips and excursions.
A discovery trip through Slovenia
Ljubljana is ideal for renting a holiday house in Slovenia as a starting point for excursions into the surrounding regions. When turning east one can either take the motorway to Maribor or opt for the country road. Here one can discover lovely villages such as Snovik, Mozirje or Rogla. The city Maribor has the titles “Alpine City of the Year 2000” and “European Capital of Culture 2012” and it is the largest city of Lower Styria. Maribor is associated with the Austrian city Graz by the initiative “Euroregion Graz-Maribor” which supports economic and cultural cooperation. Maribor is regarded highly by its visitors for its stunning atmosphere; here one just pause and enjoy the day whilst taking a stroll through the city and visiting the many cultural gems. Another city worth visiting lies around 70 km south of Ljubljana and can be easily reached via Trebnje and Otocec: Novo Mesto. It was founded in 1365 by the Duke Rudolf IV of the House of Habsburg. The castle Graben is an impressive medieval fortress which sits enthroned on the banks of the Krka between Krka upon Krk and Ragov.
